Il 2 agosto Marco Masini e Giorgio Panariello si sono sfidati in singolar tenzone, per così dire, riproponendo a Siracusa per l’Ara World Fest presso l’Ara di Ierone il loro spettacolo “Panariello vs Masini – Il ritorno”: già dalla scenografia, un ring stilizzato, ma col pianoforte in primo piano e altri elementi per il comico, si è compreso lo spirito della serata, un mix tra i successi musicali di Masini e i personaggi più amati interpretati da Panariello, conditi da battute tra i due e momenti più “seri”, per far scoprire al pubblico i lati più malinconici di Giorgio e quelli più ironici di Marco.
Il fil rouge dello spettacolo è stata l’infinita, esilarante telefonata di “Renato Zero” a Masini, che ha inframmezzato lo scontro fra “il cappone della Versilia” e “il toro del Chianti”: sfilano così brani come “T’innamorerai”, “Bella stronza”, “Cenerentola innamorata”, mentre Panariello si “materializza” di volta in volta come se stesso (da stand-up comedian) o come Naomo, e nella sezione “estiva” dello spettacolo come il bagnino Mario. Quest’ultima è anche l’occasione per ricordare canzoni che hanno fatto la storia della musica italiana: “Estate” e “Sapore di mare”, alternate a “Ci vorrebbe il mare” e “Le ragazze serie”, oltre che per rievocare gli inizi di Masini e produttori come Bigazzi.
Il momento del ricordo dei rispettivi padri è quello per fare emergere il Pierrot triste che è in Panariello oltre che la vena di “malinconoia” di Masini.
Si passa poi al talento da imitatore del cantautore, capace di parodiare Bongusto e il Cocciante di “Margherita”, o il trio di “Si può dare di più” (ricordiamo che Masini spesso ha fatto da voce guida per l’incisione di famose canzoni da parte dei colleghi). Panariello lo sfida ma con l’autotune… e tra Pupo e “Ti vorrei”, tra il Sirvano e il suo intercalare “vaìa” c’è anche spazio per Francesco Nuti e la sua “Sarà per te”.
L’arrivo tanto atteso di Panariello-Zero dà il là (altra gag sui fraintendimenti tra chi capisce di musica e chi non) all’esecuzione di canzoni come “Spiagge”, “Il triangolo”, “I migliori anni”, alternate a “Vai con lui” o “Disperato” di Masini.
Gli anni Novanta, il periodo del boom Masini, tornano con tutta la loro carica di nostalgia e forse anche di rimpianto, reso dolceamaro dalle battute di Panariello.
Il duello tra i due si conclude sostanzialmente in parità. Vincitore? Il pubblico.
Il duetto “Marco/ Giorgio come me” è una sorta di “riconciliazione” tra i due.
Tra costumi da sistemare e valigie da preparare per la prossima tappa, si conclude la serata, decisamente piacevole (a parte qualche battuta un po’ politically incorrect o semplicemente un po’ datata) e a tratti esilarante, musicalmente ottima (Masini con il pianoforte solo o con la base registrata mostra comunque l’esperienza e il valore di esecutore oltre che di cantautore).
Una data “nazionalpopolare” per l’Ara World Fest, che ha poi ospitato Chiara Civello giorno 4 e adesso attende Women on fire – Rock legend giorno 8, La Crus il 9, Tosca il 10 e Danilo Rea il 23.

On August 2nd Marco Masini and Giorgio Panariello challenged each other in single combat, so to speak, re-proposing their show “Panariello vs Masini – The Return” in Syracuse for the Ara World Fest at the Ara di Ierone: starting from the scenography, a stylized ring, but with the piano in the foreground and other elements for the comedian, the spirit of the evening was understood, a mix between Masini's musical successes and the most beloved characters played by Panariello, peppered with jokes between the two and more “serious”, to make the public discover Giorgio's more melancholic sides and Marco's more ironic ones.
The common thread of the show was the endless, hilarious phone call from "Renato Zero" to Masini, which interspersed the clash between "the capon of Versilia" and "the bull of Chianti": thus songs such as "T'innamorerai" paraded , “Bella bitch”, “Cinderella in love”, while Panariello “materializes” from time to time as himself (as a stand-up comedian) or as Naomo, and in the “summer” section of the show as the lifeguard Mario. The latter is also an opportunity to remember songs that have made the history of Italian music: "Estate" and "Sapore di mare", alternating with "Ci would have the sea" and "Le Ragazze serie", as well as to recall the beginnings of Masini and producers like Bigazzi.
The moment of remembering their respective fathers is to bring out the sad Pierrot that is in Panariello as well as Masini's vein of "melancholy".
We then move on to the singer-songwriter's talent as an imitator, capable of parodying Bongusto and the Cocciante of "Margherita", or the trio of "Si can give more" (remember that Masini often acted as a guiding voice for the recording of famous songs from colleagues). Panariello challenges him but with autotune... and between Pupo and "Ti I would like", between Sirvano and his intercalary "vaìa" there is also room for Francesco Nuti and his "Sarà per te".
The long-awaited arrival of Panariello-Zero gives way (another gag on the misunderstandings between those who understand music and those who don't) to the performance of songs such as "Spiagge", "Il triangle", "The best years", alternating with " Go with him” or “Desperato” by Masini.
The nineties, the period of the Masini boom, return with all their charge of nostalgia and perhaps even regret, made bittersweet by Panariello's jokes.
The duel between the two essentially ends in a draw. Winner? The public.The duet “Marco/Giorgio come me” is a sort of “reconciliation” between the two.
Between costumes to sort out and suitcases to prepare for the next stage, the evening ends, decidedly pleasant (apart from a few jokes that were a little politically incorrect or simply a little dated) and at times exhilarating, musically excellent (Masini with solo piano or with the recorded base, however, he shows his experience and value as a performer as well as a songwriter).
A "national-popular" date for the Ara World Fest, which then hosted Chiara Civello on day 4 and now awaits Women on fire - Rock legend on day 8, La Crus on the 9th, Tosca on the 10th and Danilo Rea on the 23rd.
