ENGLISH VERSION
Chiara Civello and her band performed last August 4th at the Ara di Ierone, inside the archaeological park of Neapolis, as part of the Ara World Fest, strongly supported and directed by Carmelo Bennardo and Lello Analfino (Incognito , Tarantolati di Tricarico, PFM, Panariello and Masini the hosted artists).
The international musician and performer - who among other things has Sicilian origins on her father's side -, winner of several awards and nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards and Tenco, also boasts participation in Sanremo and knighthood, collaborations and tours with personalities from the caliber of Sergio Cammariere and Gilberto Gil.
On July 3rd his Italian tour opened on the tenth anniversary of "Canzoni", an album of Italian songs "that open the heart, some even break it".
In this regard, we remember the artistic partnership with the poet Patrizia Cavalli, of which Civello set some verses to music.
An evening dedicated to "kairos", the appropriate and magical moment, the refinement and elegance of an interpreter and composer who loves suggestions: the artist leafed through a sort of "Italian songbook", starting from "Via con me" by Paolo Conte, passing through “Io che non vivo”, “Che m'importa del mondo", “Con una rosa", “Va bene, va bene così" (Donaggio, Migliacci and Bacalov, Vinicio Capossela, Vasco Rossi the authors : yes, because Italian classics can also be contemporary).
We then move on to Jannacci with "I mulini dei memoria", "Incantevole" by Subsonica", "Resta" by Chiara Civello herself, in a continuous interweaving of European and South American melodies and rhythms, arrangements that deepen, reinterpret, undermine the structure original of the songs to excavate their essence and find their meaning - for example the jazzy reiteration of the words seems to empty the song, exhaust it and reduce the word to pure sound, nonsense beat, hiss, and then reinvent it.
More intimate are the songs performed with the guitar alone (remember that Chiara Civello is a multi-instrumentalist), "Il mondo" (Jimmy Fontana reinterpreted in whispers, very powerful in its emancipation), "Io che amo solo te", by Sergio Endrigo true poet.
With “Malamore” we find ourselves in the atmosphere of authorial music (Pasquale Panella and Enzo Carella wrote this very particular piece, current in talking about malamore: and the artist's thanks to the local realities that deal with violence of genre, Hypatia in particular).
With the song “Perdiamoci”, written to lyrics by the author Emanuele Trevi, in his first experience as a “lyricist”, finalist at the Campiello with “La casa del mago”, we go into the world of Imma Tataranni and the successful series centered on the books of Mariolina Venezia, and it is interesting how two artists worked on a word that can be understood as abandonment to love and at the same time as the end of a story.
“Senza fine” and “Metti una sera a cena”, written, it goes without saying, by Gino Paoli and Ennio Morricone, closed the concert, which then also included an encore, “Fortissimo”, by Bruno Canfora and Lina Wertmüller.
An evening of refined, elegant, refined music, very far from the mainstream but ready to intercept sounds and re-propose them in an original way.
The band is remarkable, made up of excellent musicians, starting with the pianist Domenico Sanna, then the guitarist Marco Acquarelli, Ameen Salem, double bass player, and the drummer Stefano Costanzo.
